The 12” x 16-1/2” Variable-Speed RIKON Midi Lathe 70-1516VSRK brings industrial-level control and capacity into a compact wood lathe platform suited for a wide range of turning work. It combines a brushless motor with electronic variable speed control, giving you steady torque across the entire RPM range without the drop-off common in smaller machines. This balance of output and control supports rough shaping and finish work without compromising cut quality.

A 1.25 HP DC brushless motor paired with three adjustable speed ranges allows controlled shaping at low speeds and clean surface cuts at higher RPM. The digital readout keeps spindle speed visible at a glance, helping maintain consistency through each pass. Forward and reverse operation supports improved surface refinement without repositioning the work. The cast iron bed and ball-bearing spindle system reduce vibration and maintain alignment under load, which helps retain accuracy as cuts progress.

The movable magnetic control box keeps speed and stop functions within reach so adjustments happen without stepping away from the work. For expanded capacity, the machined bed end supports an optional extension for increased turning diameter, extending the machine’s capability without increasing its footprint.
